Course overview

If you have a passion to work with people, are a good communicator, and want to make a difference in people’s lives, then working within adult care may be the career for you.

In this short four-week introduction, we will go through the basic requirements of working within adult care and the different job roles available i.e. care worker, health care worker, social worker. Your functional skills levels will be assessed to enable you to progress to the most suitable class for your needs and abilities.  Full attendance on all four sessions is required.

What will I study?

You will:

  • be introduced to our online learning system so that you can access classwork and assignments from home
  • explore the roles and responsibilities of working in adult care
  • look at types of jobs and career opportunities within the adult care industry
  • be assessed on your current levels in functional skills
  • be informed of your progression routes

Assessment method

You will complete an online assessment of your functional skills. Teachers will also assess your communication and written skills, through verbal and written assignments and tasks.

Entry requirements

No previous experience required but ideally you will need a good level of communication in English.

What should I bring with me?

You may need to take notes so bring along your preferred tools such as pen and paper or an electronic device.
