Course overview

If you believe you would benefit from improved English skills to widen your job prospects, help your children with their homework or access further study this will be the ideal starting point for you.

This is an informal course suitable for anyone. It will provide the first step to ensuring that you are on the right course for your current level of skill and needs.

What will I study?

You will:

  • complete an online assessment and a short piece of writing (this is not a test but will identify your current skill level)
  • discuss your goals and areas for improvement to plan a way forward
  • be introduced to the college online learning system so that you can access classwork and homework from home

Assessment method

Online initial and diagnostic assessments and a short free writing task.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements.

What should I bring with me?

You may need to take notes so bring along your preferred tools such as pen and paper or an electronic device.
